Monday. De cember 27. in the opening round of the Valley Springs invitational tournament. Four games will be played at 6:30. 7:30. 8:30. and 9:30. The semi-finals will be played Friday and the finals Saturday evening at 8:30. The Valley Springs holiday in vitational will feature some of the strongest teams in this section with several members of the WNC league participating. Entries in clude Marshall, Haw Creek. Lei cester, Hendersonville. Service Pa:nt, Martel Mills, BamardsviHe, Sodaland. Beacon Mills. Valley- Springs, Biltmore. Burnsville, Berkley and Colonial. To meet this challenge Coach Pete Earle, who will have charge of the team in the absence of Coach Carl Myers, will depend on practically the same team that fought through to the state finals last spring. The one exception will be Doyle Turner who is out with a broken ankle. Filling in for Turner, who is considered a top defensive guard, will be Tom Burnett. Earle will start Brake and Stephenson at the forwards, Edwards at the other guard, and will fill the center spot himself. A large delegation of local fans are preparing to attend the Mon day night session which opens at 6:30. ( HI ICR LEAGUE RESULTS By Harold Brown The Presbyterian girls took another game Monday night by defeating Ridgecrest, 36 to 7. High score for the Presbyterians was Nichols with 17 points, while Quinn was high scorer for the losers with 5 points. Lineup: Pres.
